Berlin is the main capitol of Germany. Before the wall came down, was Berlin Berlin´s Germany´s dynamic´s capital. In Berlin you will stay six days in the 5* Grand Hotel Esplanade located in the Tiergarten, the green heart of Berlin between the famous Kurfuerstendamm, the glamour avenue which was once the heart of West Germany and the Brandenburg Gate at the start of the Unter den Linden Boulevard with its historic architecture and theaters.

Itinerary

Day 1
– Depart the USA for the flight to Berlin

Day 2 - After arrival in Berlin transfer by City Guide Berlin to your Grand Hotel Esplanade 5* where you will spend the next six days. The afternoon is at leisure to relax. In the evening dinner is in the Hotel Grand Esplanade. After dinner you enjoy a complimentary drink in Harry´s New York Bar, a watering place for movie and TV stars. D
Day 3– After breakfast our guide will pick up you at the hotel for a four hours Berlin CITY OVERVIEW TOUR by private car. Enjoy an entertaining journey through the streets of Berlin covering the highlights of both East and West Berlin. Sights include the Tiergarten, Kanzleramt, Reichstag, Potsdamer Platz, Sony Center, Brandenburger Gate,Checkpoint Charly, the Berliner Dome, Gendarmenmarkt and much more. You have an excellent lunch in the Restaurant Hackeschen Hof nearby the famous Hackeschen Hoefen with their 8 courtyards. There are different shops, galleries, restaurants and much more.
The tour is entirely flexible and you may stop where ever you want. The remainder of the afternoon and evening is on your own to pursue your own interests. B, L

Day 4 - After breakfast we invite you to visit the famous Museum Island and have a look inside.
You receive a day ticket and have the choice between the Pergamonmuseum, Bode Museum, Neue or Alte Nationalgalerie and Altes Museum. The afternoon and evening is on your own. B


Day 5 - After breakfast starts our five hours Potsdam tour by private car. Our guide will pick up you at the hotel. We will drive over Hitler´s highway AVUS to Potsdam (The summer Recidence of German Kaisers and Prussian Kings) see the famous Spy bridge (Glienicker Brücke), where they change spies at the cold War. Potsdam Castles and Palaces, the Prussian Garrison town of Potsdam, selected after the 2nd War as the site for the meeting of Chuchill, Stalin and Truman for the famous Potsdam conference in 1945.
Explore the shopping and historic districts in Potsdam (Dutch Quarters, built in the 18th Century) or the Russian Settlement Alexandrowska. Enjoy fine lunch with view to the sea Tiefen sea. The evening is on your own. B

Day 6 - The day is on your own. Berlin have many interested sights to explore. May be you want to go shopping. The Kurfuerstendamm was before the wall came down Berlins shopping boulvarde.
Now the historical Friedrichstrasse is back in fashion again. The Friedrichstrasse extends on a length of 3,3 km north-south extension, directly through the centre of Berlin, starting at Oranienburger Tor and ending at Mehringplatz/Hallesches Tor. From 1961 to 1989 it was divided by the Wall and the onliest crossing point was the famous Checkpoint Charly. Once of the most lively streets of Berlin, today it tempts again with luxery and flamboyant architecture, reactive buildings, shopping arcades, many cafes, bars, restaurants, culture. B

Day 7 - After breakfast pick up you our guide at the hotel for a three hour City Tour by car.
You can choice between two tours 1) Architecture tour or 2) political/historical tour. The afternoon and evening is on your own.

Description of tour 1
From the hotel we drive to the State Library and Philharmonie by Hans Sharoun. After that they see the Potsdamer Platz. The complete re-creation of this entire section of the city aroused a lot of international attention. An urban entertainment center that makes use of upscale architecture and an urban planning concept with a sense of history has emerged in no-man´s land right where the old border and Wall used to be.

Reichstag by Wallot. We have two stops where they wish.

Description of tour 2
There is no other city in the whole world whose history is as closely linked to the years of the Cold War as Berlin. First the Wall came down on November 9 th of 1989, then Germany was politically reunited on October, 3 rd of 1990. In the following years most traces of the sad, but famous monument that had split Berlin for almost 30 years into two parts, were removed.

General introduction about the modern and historical Berlin around the hotel area (Tiergarten District) towards the City center. At first they visit the “Documentation Center and Wall Memorial” (Bernauer Str.), an area situated at the boarder between East and West.You can see original piece of the Berlin Wall and last fragment of the “no man´s land. A detailed decription of the events related to the Cold War and Wall periods in Berlin, Germany and Europe with exclusive photo material. The visit of the souvenir shop and local library are possible. After that return to the city center driving around the most historical areas here: (Invalidenstr., Government district, Unter den Linden, Nikolaiviertel, Leipziger Str.,).

After passing by the “Checkpoint Charly” at the Friedrichstr. further to the Prinz-Albrecht-Gelände for visiting the memorial estate “Topographie des Grauens”. Between Stresemannstr, Niederkirchnerstr. (Prinz-Albrecht-Str.), Wilhelmstr.und Anhalter Str. there were situated from 1933 – 1945 the central headquarters of the secret police and secret service in the national socialist period (NS-Regime). Short visit around open exhibition area with detailed retrospective of the period and its victims (World War II).
Following the Wilhelminestr. (Mitte) to the new Holocaust Memorial with option visit to the exposition “Germania – Traces of the National Socialist World Capital” or walk to the Brandenburg Gate and German Parlament Building.
If we have time over, we visit the “ Jewish Quarters” Oranienburger Str. (Mitte).

In the evening fine dining in the Restaurant Aigner with view to the famous Gendarmenplatz.

Day 8 - Today say good bye to Berlin. After breakfast transfer from City Guide Berlin to the airport. B
